KEY STAGES

What the AI Curriculum for British Schools in Abu Dhabi Teaches at Each Key Stage

Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1

Foundation Stage to Year 2

Children learn from our computer science textbooks, alongside early-years tools such as Scratch Junior.

TextbooksScratch Junior

Years 3 to 6

Key Stage 2: Years 3 to 6

Students plan a solution before they code it, then build it from blocks in Scratch and on a micro:bit, a small board that lights up or responds to their program. Early lessons cover sequence and repetition. Each project ends with a working result to show the class, and Year 6 students begin the move to Arduino.

Key Stage 3: Years 7 to 9

Pupils move on to Arduino and Python. They connect a distance sensor, write code that reads it and build an obstacle-avoiding robot. The project needs correct wiring and correct code, so students test each one separately.

Key Stages 4 and 5: Year 10 Onward

Students build Raspberry Pi and IoT projects, such as a blind stick, that combine several parts into one working system. The AI topics include computer vision and speech recognition, and each topic ends with a project tested on new examples.

  • Browser-Based LabAI Cloud Lab runs our lessons in a browser, with the LMS IDE where pupils write, run and test code in one place.
  • AI Code and Question GeneratorsTeachers use our AI code generator and AI question generator to prepare lab questions and sample programs for the next lesson.
  • AI ChatbotOur AI chatbot explains concepts, fixes errors and gives instant feedback on code. Teachers can also use a chatbot while planning lessons.
  • Coding GamesShort coding games give enjoyable practice on a skill, in the gaps between larger builds.
  • Project PoolStudents who finish the set work pick a new project from the pool and keep building.
  • Content CustomisationA department can adjust tasks to fit its own scheme of work.
  • Progress RecordAI Cloud Lab tracks progress and keeps instant feedback beside each submission, so students can look back at earlier work when they revise.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We begin with Year 3, which matches our Grade 2 starting point by age. The lessons then build year by year through to Year 13, with each year group working from its own lesson plans.
Younger students use our computer science textbooks, while the AI lessons begin in Year 3.
Yes. Our lessons begin with Scratch and micro:bit in Key Stage 2, so a student needs no earlier experience.
Yes. Each year group has its own lesson plans from us, so a school chooses where to begin and extends the programme as the timetable allows.
Yes. AI Cloud Lab is compatible with IGCSE and UK curricula, and the department keeps its chosen specification.
Yes. Our British curriculum textbooks run from Nursery to Grade 9 and are built around project-based learning.
Yes. Our one platform serves Key Stage 2 through Key Stage 5, so code and feedback stay with the student as they move up.
Yes. Our lessons run to Year 13, with Python, Raspberry Pi and IoT projects continuing through Key Stage 5. Some British schools teach the IB Diploma instead of A Levels in those years, and AI Cloud Lab works with any Computer Science curriculum, so the department keeps its own course.
We do. Our training, a teacher's guide for each topic and our help desk support every teacher, and a computing background is a good head start.
