DUTIES:  Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Employee Relations Coordinator works at an operational level to manage various human resource policies and practices that affect people at work.  As one of the key employee points of contact in the HR Department, the issues addressed by the incumbent may include working conditions, discipline, employee complaints, employee satisfaction & morale, performance management, and professionalism & ethics. The Employee Relations Coordinator may also deal with other areas of HR operations such as parental leave, absence management, resignation & termination procedures, the Respectful Workplace Policy, mediation and dispute resolution procedures. 

 

In developing and maintaining relationships with employees, the  Employee Relations Coordinator promotes employee engagement, and works with individuals, groups of employees, and line managers across a variety of tasks including:

  • Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating employee relations strategies including policies, programs and procedures to address CNAQ’s human resource requirements;
  • Meeting and counseling staff and supervisors on employee relation matters. Collects information, reviews complaints filed by employees and/or supervisors, provides counseling, and recommends resolution for complaint filed.
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships between management and employees;
  • Acting as a consultant to line managers on the implementation and interpretation of human resource policies;
  • Conducting internal investigations; assisting in the resolution of specific disciplinary or dispute cases, including acting as a mediator between the employee and line manager and facilitating mediation; provides and implements solutions .
  • Providing accurate advice, in consultation with the Qatar Project Coordinator, on issues arising from employment contracts and legislation;
  • Assisting in the preparation of staff handbooks to ensure that the workforce is aware of policies;
  • Ensuring that dispute handling and disciplinary proceedings are carried out in line within policy and relevant legislation.
  • Liaising with the Respectful Workplace Coordinator (Newfoundland) on issues related to preventative and reactive measures to resolve employee complaints.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate must possess these qualifications and competencies:

  • A university degree in Human Resource Management or a related field i.e., employment relations, business administration, or psychology.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior, advisory  role in the Human Resources field
  • CHRP designation or willingness to work towards the credential.
  • Program or Certification in Alternative Dispute Resolution, or willingness to work towards these credentials
  • Exemplary written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and expert fluency in English.
  • Effective problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • Candidates must possess strong computer skills and knowledge of learning technologies. A demonstrated commitment to working in a team and learner-centered environment is required. 
  • Intercultural competence including intercultural sensitivity and adaptability, and the ability to conduct oneself appropriately and effectively in another culture, are essential.
  • Knowledge of the CNA system and its programs is a definite asset.

 

NOTE: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the State of Qatar visa process.
